Many students enter secondary schools and then leave as competent spellers. At the other extreme, there are many tricky words that you will come across that you may find more challenging.

 

You must remember though, that learning to spell is a gradual process which you can continue working at throughout KS3 and KS4.  It involves looking at our written language and recognising systems and patterns in that will help you remember more and more advanced vocabulary.

 

The following list of spellings was compiled by a number of secondary schools who all identified the following words as the most common errors found amongst this age group.
